Volkswagen recently unveiled the 6th generation of the Golf, but it looks like the manufacturer is still trying to profit from the popular 5th generation by launching a special edition of the GTI. Called GTI Limited Edition 240, the new edition is based on the GTI Edition 30. The engine is the same 2.0-liter FSI engine of other GTIs, but in this limited edition, it is bumped up by 10 hp to 240 hp.
The new edition comes with new standard features as the bi-xenon headlamps, Pioneer touch screen navigation system as well as a new sound system. Price of the vehicle: $46,361, a bargain if we compare it to the $50,810, the price asked for the 230 hp Golf GTI Edition 30. The only bad news is that all 300 cars produced will be available exclusively on the Dutch market.

According to the manufacturer, the KW suspension kit can be used with the factory suspension system but also with Audi’s Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). With the new kit installed, the car is lowered with up to 45 mm, but still this doesn’t only improve the appearance, also the handling capabilities.

Already one of the fastest production cars on the streets, the Nissan GT-R (a.k.a. Godzilla) seems like the perfect car. Still there are many tuners that want to improve the car by offering a body kit for it. After Zele and Amuse, another major tuning company focused on the GT-R, Wald International. Known as one of the biggest Japanese tuners, Wald offered us a preview of their future body kit for the Nissan GT-R.
The new kit consists in a re-designed front bumper and a new custom-made nose cover, new aerodynamic side sills for better stability, expanded fenders on the rear, a new rear wing and a new rear air diffuser. Also a new set of 22” alloy wheels painted in black were added for better stability.

Have you ever thought that an Audi R8 can be a rival to the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series? It seems it can with the help of the new customization package by MTM. With the new tuning program the 4.2-liter V8 engine now develops 560 hp. Connected the a 6-speed manual gearbox, the vehicle sprints from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, exactly as the SL65 AMG Black Series, 0-124 mph in 12.5, while the top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph.
For the speed fanatics MTM can also remove the limitation and, according to them, the vehicle has a top speed of 196 mph. The MTM Audi R8 comes with new MTM Bimoto Forged 9 x 20" ET 42 on the front and MTM Bimoto Forged 11 x 20 ET 50 on the rear, fitted with Michelin Sport Cup tires. MTM also added new brake disks: 380 x 34 punched, ventilated on the front and 356 x 32 on the rear.
No word about the price yet.

Last month, we told you about Audi and Volkswagen working on a pair of roadsters. Now more information about Audi’s version is beginning to surface. Audi’s car will be designed to look like a smaller version of its successful R8. But it will not be called R4, as previously believed. Instead, according to CarMagazine, Audi will go smaller and call the future model R3. Set to be launched in 2013, a preview version (under Volkswagen logo) will be revealed in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The R3 will replace the current TT and will be exclusively powered by four-cylinder engines in order to keep "the Audi a safe distance from the Boxster and Cayman." Price will be kept in the €25,000 to €45,000 range.
Under the hood, Audi would install the 180bhp 1.8-liter TFSI motor, a 2.0-liter version rated at 220bhp and a brawny S-line model good for some 280bhp. Diesel TDI engines would also likely be an option at least in Europe. Versions could include a frugal 125bhp variant of the latest 1.6-liter common-rail as well as 170 and 204bhp versions of the 2.0-liter.
There is nothing better than test driving a sports car. The manufacturer expects you to run it to the limits, so you can go home and write about how powerful/fast/nimble the car is. Our experience with the preview of the Cadillac CTS-V was no exception. As mentioned earlier in the week, we were invited to take a day putting Cadillac’s 556 hp supercharged CTS-V through its paces at the Monticello racetrack in New York.
The power was always there, from the moment I stepped on the accelerator until I hit the engine’s rev limiter. When I hit the gas, I immediately found myself stuck to the seat. I would have screamed, but instead just simply shut up and wondered if it is the end of the world! The CTS-V’s delivery is almost is so abrupt that I would hate to see the look of terror on my face. But this was quickly replaced by a smile when I realized I was always under control… and alive.
More after the jump.
