Renault Sport Twingo

Renault Sport Twingo

Here’s another hatch that Europe gets to tease the U.S. with. Renault has not been bringing cars to the United States for almost 20 years now. In that time they’ve put out some cars we may wish we’d had, including this new Renault Sport Twingo. The new car is based on the everyday Twingo, but it is given a 1.6-liter engine that puts out 133 horsepower. That kind of power in a tiny car combined with a sport chassis can make for a cool little car. If the car were sold here, the current exchange rate would put the price at around $23,000.

Enjoy some video of performance driver training given by Renault. The French company offers a training school for new owners for the reasonable price of €1.

Press release after the jump.

2009 Renault Megane R26.R

Renault Megane R26.R

Renault unveiled at the British Motor Show the R26.R, a model based on Mégane F1 Team R26 that uses the same engine, gearbox and limited slip differential, but has been lightened by 123kg and features specific suspension calibration. It will be limited to only 450 units and will go on sale in October.

Megane R26.R is powered by the same 2.0 Turbo engine as Megane F1 Team R26 which is mated to a manual six-speed gearbox with a shorter linkage for even quicker gearshifts.

This engine boasts peak power of 230hp and torque of 310Nm. Indeed, one of this powerplant’s key features is the availability of the latter across an extremely broad rev range, with 90 per cent of maximum torque being available between 2,000 and 6,000rpm.

Megane R26.R accelerates from standstill to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds and covers the standing start kilometre in a mere 25.9s. Its homologated combined cycle fuel consumption is 8.5 litres/100km, equivalent to 199g of CO2/km.

Renault revealed today the revised 2008 Scenic, a more efficient and streamlined model that will go on sale in France this autumn at a price starting €19,900.

The new Scénic line-up focuses on six equipment levels: Emotion, Latitude, Carminat, Exception, Conquest and Jade. These changes combine with evolutions to the model’s interior and exterior styling, as well as upgrades for the different equipment levels and the introduction of option packs.

Renault has chosen the glamorous weekend which sees the Cannes Film Festival coincide with the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix to take the wraps off Laguna Coupe. The flowing lines of the newcomer’s elegant, uncluttered design express timeless beauty and the promise of sheer motoring enjoyment.

Its performance provides unprecedented pleasure behind the wheel thanks to the combination of its Active Drive chassis equipped with four-wheel steering – which has been acclaimed by the media across Europe on the GT version of Renault Laguna – and the two new V6 powerplants which have been introduced at the same time as this image-forging vehicle. The brand new V6 dCi, which is poised to become a benchmark in terms of performance and pleasure, delivers 235hp (173kW), while the new 3.5-litre petrolpowered V6 offers 240hp (175kW). Laguna Coupe stands out as an inspiring, fourseater with genuine sensual appeal and will be shown in further detail at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show in October.

Renault Laguna Coupe bears a close resemblance to the racy concept car revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007, while its elegant styling and proportions boast all the hallmarks associated with truly exceptional coupes. Its distinctive front end suggests the presence under the bonnet of the finest Renault-Nissan Alliance engines which have been designed and developed to ensure supreme driving enjoyment. Indeed, Renault Laguna Coupe is capable of accelerating from standstill to 100kph in less than seven seconds, and this upper-range performance combines with the Active Drive chassis and four-wheel steering to deliver optimum pleasure at the wheel.

2010 Renault Megane

Renault Megane

When Renault unveiled the Megane Coupe Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, they announced a compact production version based on the concept will be released at a later date. This will be the Renault Megane Coupe, the successor of the 1996 model. The same design cues will also be applied for the entire Megane line-up: three and five-door hatchback, sedan, a Sport Touring estate and a new C-C folding hard-top.

The third generation Megane will be unveiled this autumn at the Paris Motor Show and sales will begin in 2009. The new Megane will compete with the Peugeot 308, Fiat Bravo and Volkswagen Golf VI.

The next generation Megane will be inspired by both Renault Megane Coupe and the newly launched Laguna. The hatchback will feature a distinctive swooping roofline that will include panoramic glass on range-topping models. At the rear, a conventionally shaped hatch will replace the controversial rump of the existing car.

The thirst generation Megane will be built on a new platform built in Cooperation with Nissan. The Coupe version will add a new sporty suspension in order to offer a fun driving experience.

2008 Renault Megane Coupe

Renault Megane Coupe

Renault unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show the Renault Megane Coupe Concept, a preview version of a compact production coupe to be released at a later date.

The Megane Coupe Concept is powered by a 200hp (147kW) 2.0 Turbo petrol engine which delivers torque of 280Nm at 2,600rpm and peak power of 200hp at 5,800rpm to ensure punch and flexibility at all engine speeds for everyday motoring pleasure. Mated to a manual six-speed gearbox, the 2-liter turbocharged unit drives Megane Coupe Concept from a standstill to 100kph in just 7.2 seconds, yet it returns economical fuel consumption of just 6.5 liters/100km (154g of CO2/km).

Megane Coupe Concept provides a foretaste of the forthcoming Megane Coupe. "This show car emphatically showcases the evolution at Renault Design. Its squatter proportions and powerful, energetic styling talk directly to the driver’s senses; they say ’driving pleasure’. The spectacular, unprecedented door-opening kinematics add that little touch of magic which contributes to the dream factor associated with the automobile," explains Renault’s Patrick Le Quément, Senior Vice President, Corporate Design. Of a total length of 4.51 metres, Megane Coupe Concept features a modern, dynamic silhouette with taut lines that seem to suggest perpetual movement, while its alert, expressive front-end looks point at once to a truly dynamic personality.
