The Nissan GT-R (a.k.a. Godzilla) seems to become a real icon in the world of tuning. After Amuse and Zele, another big Japanese tuner, HKS, is focusing on the fastest Nissan around. The tuning house unveiled today the HKS GT570 upgrade kit that updates the GT-R to an astonishing 570 hp and 540 lb.-ft. of torque. In order to obtain this amount of power, HKS added a new aluminum intercooler piping, reduced the exhaust resistance and increased the boost with the help of an electronic boosting controller. Unfortunately the the package is not yet available in the U.S., but until then enjoy the exhaust note of the tuner car on the dyno.
Jeremie Paret is a French auto enthusiast who is getting into the supercar business. Here is his first work embodied in a custom Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 with styling lines from the Reventon. The unique selling points of the project are a complete virtual tuning that patterns the car before being built and a private weblog where the buyer can be updated with the status of the car’s production. Even more interesting, the owner can be part and has the possibility to influence the process especially in regard to the design work.
The car features custom carbon fiber side skirts, front bumper inspired from the Reventon and bigger rear diffuser. Some carbon fiber touches are also used for the front spoiler lip and door handles. The custom wheels are signed Asanti Diamond and feature pink-colored brake calipers inside.
Audi TT is maybe one of the most popular vehicle from the German manufacturer on the market. Audi recently launched its TTS, a sporty version of the TT featuring a 2.0 liter TFSI engine with 272 hp. Of course, there are people who are not satisfied by the factory cars and want a little more, these people choose MTM, one of the best Audi tuners on the market.
MTM unveiled today the new performance package for the Audi TTS and you know what this means: more power and better performance. The new power output of the engine is bumped 58 hp to a total 330 hp at 6240 rpm.
With the Quattro AWD system and connected to a 6-Speed S-tronic Direct-Shift gearbox the TTS has a top speed of 164 mph. To stop all this new power, MTM added a new set of Brembo brake disks, 380 x 34 mm drilled, 8-piston. Also a new set of 20” MTM Bimoto forged rims were added for better stability.
After Cadillac will unveil the coupe version of its successful CTS they will also bring the more powerful V version. And here is the first spy shot to prove it. The CTS Coupe will be unveiled in 2009 as a 2010 model year. The CTS-V Coupe will follow a few months later. It will be powered by a 6.2L LSA supercharged V8 engine that will deliver 500 hp.
Spy reports spot large drilled large brake calipers and center-mounted dual oval exhaust tips. Reports also confirm the raised hood, wider rear tires, larger rims and the CTS-V series grille.
Vauxhall unveiled two editions of the Astra TwinTop called Exclusiv and Exclusiv XP. For the U.S. audience, the TwinTop is like a prettier version of the Pontiac G6 convertible. The two Vauxhalls come with new 18-inch alloy wheels used exclusively on this editions, heated mirrors, leather interior, leather steering wheel and heated leather seats. The Exclusiv XP also receives a VXR styling package.
The Exclusiv XP edition comes with a new VXR styling pack consisting in a new front spoiler, new side sills and a re-designed rear bumper. The engines available for the two editions are a 1.8-liter gas engine developing 140 hp, a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine capable to develop 200 hp and a 1.9-liter diesel engine developing 150 hp. Pricing starts from £19,295 (at current exchange rates is about $34,396.)
Volkswagen recently unveiled the 6th generation of the Golf, but it looks like the manufacturer is still trying to profit from the popular 5th generation by launching a special edition of the GTI. Called GTI Limited Edition 240, the new edition is based on the GTI Edition 30. The engine is the same 2.0-liter FSI engine of other GTIs, but in this limited edition, it is bumped up by 10 hp to 240 hp.
The new edition comes with new standard features as the bi-xenon headlamps, Pioneer touch screen navigation system as well as a new sound system. Price of the vehicle: $46,361, a bargain if we compare it to the $50,810, the price asked for the 230 hp Golf GTI Edition 30. The only bad news is that all 300 cars produced will be available exclusively on the Dutch market.
It seems like Hyundai is looking to be the next new car for the boy racer. After reporting about the Rhys Millen Racing Genesis Coupe back in July, today is time to talk about a new tuner that will present a high-performance version of the Genesis Coupe for the 2008 SEMA show.
The HKS plan for the Genesis Coupe includes a HKS GT Turbo upgrade to maximize horsepower and torque, HKS engine internals, HKS limited-edition turbo exhaust system, HKS Super Mega Flow Intake System, HKS Engine Management and HKS Hipermax III fully-adjustable suspension.
GM revealed this morning the first official image of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, the most powerful version of the newly launched 2010 Camaro.
The Camaro SS is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that will produce 422hp and 408lb-ft of torque. The engine will be mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. The Camaro SS will feature fuel-saving Active Fuel Management on automatic-equipped combinations and the FE3 (performance) suspension.
Already one of the fastest production cars on the streets, the Nissan GT-R (a.k.a. Godzilla) seems like the perfect car. Still there are many tuners that want to improve the car by offering a body kit for it. After Zele and Amuse, another major tuning company focused on the GT-R, Wald International. Known as one of the biggest Japanese tuners, Wald offered us a preview of their future body kit for the Nissan GT-R.
The new kit consists in a re-designed front bumper and a new custom-made nose cover, new aerodynamic side sills for better stability, expanded fenders on the rear, a new rear wing and a new rear air diffuser. Also a new set of 22” alloy wheels painted in black were added for better stability.
After unveiling the Sport Wagon version of its CTS, Cadillac is now preparing the coupe version. This may be the last form the smallest Caddy will take considering what GM said about the convertible version. The coupe stays faithful to the concept launched this year at the Detroit Auto Show. Sales begin in the second half of 2009.
Under the hood GM will place the same 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 263 hp. As an option there will be a 3.6-liter with added direct injection, which increases output to 304 hp. The 6.2-liter V8 engine may be an option to top the class.
