Consumers looking to squeeze the most mileage from every gallon of gas will find much to appreciate with the new Chevy Cobalt XFE. It delivers a segment-best 36 mpg in highway driving, outdistancing competitors like the Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Toyota Corolla.
The Cobalt XFE - for Xtra Fuel Economy - is on sale now and includes LS and 1LT coupe and sedan models with the manual transmission. It uses revised engine calibration, low rolling-resistance tires, a new, 3.74:1 final drive ratio and other technologies to achieve an EPA-estimated mileage rating of 25 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway. That’s an improvement of more than 9 percent over the previous highway mileage.
"Cobalt has always been an efficient performer, but the changes with the new XFE elevate it to a leadership position that will appeal to customers who put fuel economy at the top of their new-car priority list," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. "Better still, the efficiency enhancements don’t come at the price of the safety and convenience features that serve as the foundation of Cobalt’s value story."

This weekend Corvette will participate in the FIA GT4 European Cup at Silverstone. The English circuit hosts the first two rounds of this FIA Championship. Among the cars on the grid is the new Corvette GT4, built by Callaway. Earlier, the experienced German specialist was already responsible for a number of very successful Corvette racecars. The new car will be driven by the Dutchmen Danny van Dongen and Rogier Kroymans, both team members of the Kroymans Racing team.
The 2008 C6 GT4 is built by Callaway Competition in Leingarten, Germany. This car is based on the 2008 C6 model. The 6.2 V8 LS3 engine features dry-sump lubrication. The close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox is supplied by Tremec and the triple-plate race clutch by Tilton. Further modifications: ventilated disc brakes from AP Racing (front: diameter 355 mm, 6-piston calipers; rear: diameter 330 mm, 4-piston calipers), racing ABS, cast-magnesium wheels from OZ Racing with Pirelli tires (front: 265/645-18; rear: 305/680-18) and a Koenig Hans bucket seat with 6-point safety harness.
The C6 GT4 is also equipped with a roll cage, safety fuel tank with a capacity of 104 litres and refuelling valves on both sides, pneumatic jack system, polycarbonate rear and side windows and a GM Performance T1 chassis with adjustable anti-roll bars front and rear.
The engine delivers 437 bhp, but Callaway can boost this to 500 bhp for non-FIA race categories. An aerodynamic body kit is available too, consisting of a large front spoiler with splitter and a rear wing for added downforce. These options are fitted on Corvettes participating in the Dutch Supercar Challenge (DSC).

The kick-off for the FIA GT1 Championship 2008, comprising nine races in Europe and one in Argentina, is in Silverstone (GB) on April 19 and 20. This race series promises to be a major hit, with a full grid of stunning sports cars. One of the contenders is Phoenix Carsport Racing, a German-Dutch-Swiss team that will enter two Corvette C6.R cars for the Championship. Both Corvettes are ex-GM Racing cars, very successful earlier in the American Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Their factory provenance is recognizable in the livery of the cars: besides a purposeful race body, the ‘European’ Corvettes also feature the new colour scheme of main sponsor GMAC.
A few weeks ago Phoenix Carsport Racing tested both cars for the first time, during official FIA GT tests conducted on the Monza circuit. The Dutch-Italian team with Mike Hezemans/Fabrizio Gollin and the all-Swiss team with Jean Denis Déletraz/Marcel Fässler did well, although they had to make do with ‘old’ engines. Mike Hezemans: “The new engines are being prepared by Pratt & Miller in the United States. The engines will arrive within a couple of days and will be installed by Phoenix in Germany. We will then do some functional testing on the Nürburgring and after that the countdown for the Silverstone race begins...”

Each of the 500 Indy 500 Pace Cars ( 500 cars / 500 indy race... got that ? ) have been signed by the great Emerson Fittipaldi himself. Even better, it is not just a sticker or a pen signature on top of the paint. Emerson went himself to the Corvette factory and spent two days there to put his signature on each car so that a final layer of gloss could be applied at the factory.
On top of that each pace car receive the infamous Indy 500 pace car paint job that will get you the attention you deserve. And on the inside you will have some Indy 500 logo embroided to the headrests. The usual usual Indy pace car job then.
Check the picture gallery for the real pace car and check those strobe lights in the headrest of the convertible car, pretty neat...
This year Chevrolet celebrate its 19th time as official pace car with the Corvette. And as Chevy is campaigning full tilt about Ethanol, they have made a special concept Corvette pace car. This Corvette Z06 Ethanol will not be sold to the public and it will remain a concept. It feature an amazing color changing paint that range from green to blue with yellow highlights. The effect is similar to the Dupont ’miracle paint’ seen in the past. But here the paint color is much brighter than the older dark purple to dark blue effect.
This car will be driven by Emerson Fittipaldi during the 2008 Indy 500 race.
Two other Corvette Indy500 Pace car will be present at the event. A coupe version will cover the first 100th caution laps and a convertible version will cover the other 100th laps. Both the coupe and convertible run on regular gas and they will be available for sale.

Chevrolet will add a new limited-edition Corvette to its line-up. The new version is built in limited numbers on the basis of the C6 Coupe. Delivery of the new Corvette model starts in April 2008, and the car can be ordered from authorized Corvette dealers as of now.
The new Corvette Competition is launched to celebrate the start of a new racing season. The 56th edition of the legendary Sebring Twelve Hours on 15 March was the first race in the American Le Mans Series championship (ALMS). In Sebring Corvette Racing scored another double victory in the GT1 category. The special Competition version of ALMS-champion Corvette bears subtle resemblances to the successful C6.R race car.
The number of available options on the new car is limited, in order to save as much weight as possible. Another point in common are the air scoops with honeycomb pattern in the front grill and in between the double twin exhaust pipes at the rear.
The rear spoiler, borrowed from the Z06 model, not only contributes to excellent aerodynamic properties but is evidence to the Corvette’s fine motor sport heritage as well. The bold looks of the Corvette Competition are complemented by 5-spoke alloys (18 inch at the front, 19 inch at the rear) in the colour Competition Grey. Another distinguishing feature of this limited-edition Corvette is its body colour: black.
The Corvette Competition boasts a 6.2 V8 engine and choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox or automatic transmission.
